I reigned in 83/84 keg year with the likes of Arake of world headquarters, ONI K of National, Pero Agabati of Syrindge Ijebu Ode, Seyi Odeniyi of Olumo, Gorilla of Uniben, Authority of Lacoed, Kekere Ekun of Healtech Ilese to mention but few.

𝗔: Our keg year and some keg years after was so unique based on our joint implementation of ” DISCIPLINE” which is terribly lacking within the comradium of these days. 𝗔: We were in Ekpoma for a brutal gyration, and there were a lot of politics going on. Ilya Oronna came in a bus and there were some issues going on. I asked for the names of the komrads in the bus one-by-one. You know what I did?

𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳?
𝗔: With one calabash, I dekeged them all. It became a saying that – one calabash, 10 dekegation!

𝗜𝗴𝗯𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗲𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗮!

𝗤: 𝗦𝗼, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶?
𝗔: After the Dekegation of the Ilya Oronna komrads, they did not like the discipline and there were a lot of murmurings and threats against my person. It was a few weeks after the dekegation saga that Ilya Oronna was to host the 2nd phase World Gyration. In those days, each state hosted 2 phases of World Jara. Then, Oronna was to host the second phase of World Jara and there was a palpable cloud of war over my potential attendance. Many Chiefesis came to advise me not to attend for komradic peace. I did not say anything, let alone show any apprehension over their pleas for my attendance.

On the D-Day of 2nd phase World Jara hosted by Oronna, not even my Marshal was aware that we were taking a trip that night! By 8 pm, I sent a message to all the kariables to get ready for our trip to Oronna! We got to the school gate around 10 pm in a ketekete full of all kariable souls including my Olori. I got down first, went round the bus and then asked all of them to get down one by one. That act sent a message to the host at the Gyration ground that Kako Onikumo Ekun is arounda!

As my Komrads were getting down, I heard my Olori murmuring: “Ogbeni, take e easy o”.

To me, that was rude of her! You don’t rubbish your Chief when he is fully regaliated in front of the komrads. That regalia is a symbol of leadership. I always maintain my regalia. It was always well ironed and sometimes, starched! That’s how much I respect that office. You won’t even catch me handing over my agbada or staff of office to an opeke for help. It is a disrespect to the office.

I asked her to come down from the bus. I asked that she hand over her regalia and filarial. I raised my staff of office with a loud stamp of feet over a calabash! “You are dekeged” I announced. I gave her transport fare back to school. She can’t travel with us back as a comrade.

What is the fun in indiscipline? Not with all the fraternities and abhorred mixtures of our doctrines in the name of the modern komradic world.

In Ilya Du Techo in 1985, they were to host a second phase world jara and from the grapevine, the Pirate was going to disrupt it with their presence. I think the Egungun was not their choice then (as if they have a say in who we choose to be a Chief).

I got there around 9pm and walked straight to their meetation. Immediately their Capone saw me, he got up and said “Chief Kako, we are not going to cross you. We know you and we prayed that you won’t attend. There is peace, my Chief”. And, that was it!

𝗔: Not until when we bring back discipline to comradium, we shall be beating around the bush. To impersonate then was difficult because you dare not rotate to any gyration ground without being fully regaliated in the regalia of your Ilya where you belong as a comrad, fellow etc. These days, I’ve seen so called Patron, Patrons, fellowsis, putting on different regalia at every gyration. Impersonators everywhere. At any gyration in our year and some years after, where Kako is the Chief in charge of discipline, you better be careful, see caution, apply caution and take caution like your 3 square meals. If you are so unlucky to be caught impersonating, Kako will bulldoze you at the center of gyration and you will leave the gyration ground easy and quiet.

In any organization, “DISCIPLINE” is the core of dignity.
